Who we are
AskCarl is a UK-based used car advisory service operated at askcarl.co.uk. We help buyers evaluate used car listings before purchase. You can contact us at hello@askcarl.co.uk.
What data we collect
- Email address — when you sign up, to send your magic login link and service updates
- Listing URLs — the car listing links you submit for evaluation
- Telegram user ID — to link your account to your Telegram session
- Payment data — processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details
- Usage data — number of checks used, subscription status
How we use your data
- To provide the AskCarl service (evaluating listings, sending verdicts)
- To send your magic login link and account-related emails
- To manage your subscription via Stripe
- To improve the service (anonymised usage patterns only)
We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with car dealers, advertisers, or any third parties beyond the services required to run AskCarl (Supabase for database, Stripe for payments, Resend for email).
Legal basis (GDPR)
We process your data on the basis of:
- Contract — to deliver the service you signed up for
- Legitimate interest — to improve and secure the service
- Consent — for any marketing emails (you can unsubscribe at any time)
Data retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days. Anonymised usage data may be retained longer for service improvement.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data at any time. Email us at hello@askcarl.co.uk and we will respond within 30 days.
Cookies
We use a single encrypted session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics.
