The price looks plausible. The history claim still needs dated evidence.

When one advert looks promising

Know what to ask, check and offer.

The £4.99 Buyer Check turns the available evidence for one car into the next practical move—before you spend a Saturday travelling to see it.

Inside one Buyer Check

Four answers for the car in front of you.

01Vehicle record

What does this car’s record show?

Official MOT dates, mileages, defects and recurring advisories when the registration is available.

02Model-year watchlist

What deserves attention at the viewing?

DVSA model-year MOT patterns, with sample and limits, translated into practical checks—not fault predictions.

03Asking-price position

Does the advertised price look unusual?

Recent matched adverts, median, middle range, match quality and evidence dates—not a valuation.

04Evidence-to-offer plan

What could change the decision or offer?

Focused seller questions, priority viewing checks and offer help based on the findings you actually record.

AskCarl: advert scrutiny, available MOT and mileage evidence, relevant model evidence where verified, asking-price context, viewing priorities and decision support.

History check: finance, stolen and write-off records, identity and provenance.

Mechanic: hands-on condition, fault diagnosis, bodywork and underbody inspection.

Which marketplaces work?

AutoTrader and Gumtree normally work from the URL. eBay and Facebook Marketplace may block automated readers, so paste the advert wording or attach screenshots. A blocked advert does not use a free verdict.

What exactly does £4.99 unlock?

Four connected answers for one car you have already screened: its available vehicle record, a model-year watchlist from DVSA evidence, recent asking-price position and an evidence-to-offer plan. The plan includes focused seller questions, viewing priorities and updated decision and offer help for seven days. It does not add screens for other cars.

What happens after seven days?

New analysis and updated recommendations for that car expire. Your original screen, shortlist, seller-answer log, notes, checks and saved viewing evidence remain in your account.

Does Carl inspect the photos I save at a viewing?

Saved viewing photos remain private. Carl uses the captions and notes you provide; the workspace upload does not send those photos to the image-analysis provider.

Is this an HPI check, valuation or mechanical inspection?

No. AskCarl is decision support. Verify important facts independently and use an authorised history check and physical inspection before buying. Asking-price comparisons are market context, not completed-sale valuations.

Is either payment a subscription?

No. £4.99 covers one selected car for seven days. £12.99 covers an active search for 30 days. Neither renews automatically.
